Gilpin County Senior Living

Working with an all-volunteer Board of Directors I supported the initial planning stages of a capital campaign. I trained the Board on the steps needed to develop a campaign plan, as well as, how to conduct prospect research, cultivate and steward donors, and on how to “make the ask.”
Additionally, I built their website and set them up with online giving. I also trained the volunteers on how to maintain their website.
Hunter Kemper Consulting

I have worked on multiple projects with Hunter Kemper Consulting, including prospect research, donor analysis and direct mail planning, event consultation, and campaign management.
Gilpin County Education Foundation

In addition to serving as a member of the Board of Directors, I have served as the volunteer fundraising consultant. I’ve helped re-organize the Foundation, including developing a grant application process; re-establishing Board term limits and responsibilities; establishing guidelines and administrative responsibilities to ensure proper reporting to both the State and Federal governments. Completed all paperwork for reinstatement of the Foundation’s Federal 501c3 status, which was lost prior to my joining the Board. Developed sponsorship opportunities for both signature events growing both events two-fold in just one year. Additionally, developed Foundation’s first website to help broaden its community recognition and access to its grant applications.
Thompson Island Outward Bound

Over 15 years, I supported the organization’s development goals in multiple ways. Highlights include:
- Virtual Event Production – Successfully transitioned two annual fundraisers into virtual events in 2020 due to COVID, helping raise over $800,000.
- Event Development & Growth: Created first run/walk fundraiser for organization focused on corporate engagement. Grew event from 300 attendees in year one (2008) to over 2,000 attendees (2019) and raising nearly $500,000 annually.
- Volunteer Program Development: Created a corporate volunteer program to support island maintenance and employee volunteerism. Grew program in 10 years from 100 volunteers to nearly 1,500 per year, allowing for a full-time employee to be hired to manage the Program.
- Corporate Partnership Program: Built one of Boston’s most robust corporate partnership programs that engages 200+ companies per year in multiple ways and allows avenues for employee engagement.
- Interim Leadership: Served as the interim Vice President of Development twice. Both times had 100% retention of staff and exceeded annual fund, fundraising event, and campaign goals.
- Campaign Administration: Served as the campaign manager – developed tracking, reporting, and forecasting systems to generate financial reports for management and committee members. Conducted all prospect research and trained solicitors. Managed campaign timeline. Exceeded goal by $250k.
- Systems Development: Created multiple systems to ensure financial success – including a grants management system, a cash flow model, and overall server organization.
- Staff Hiring & Training: Supported the hiring of senior level staff including Executive Vice President and Vice President of Development. Supported VP of Development in department restructuring and then built a strong team to oversee all corporate and foundation fundraising before my departure in 2021.
